One of the most beautiful portraits painted by Victorio Edades is the Portrait of Purita Kalaw Ledesma she was one of the Patron of Victorio Edades she even wrote a book about Victorio Edades other Edades painting in her collection are a study for a Mural in the Quezon institute dated 1938 and a study for a Portraiture. During the Marcos Administration Purita K. Ledesma donated some of her art collection to the defunct Museum of Philippine Art headed then by Arturo Luz it was located in the former Elks Club building in Roxas Boulevard After the 1986 Edsa Revolution the Aquino Administration decided to Close the Museum of Philippine Art and the Ledesma Collection was placed under the care of the Cultural Center of the Philippines but the CCP does not have a big space to display all the the collection of the Museum of Philippines Art because the CCP was built for the Performing Arts not as an Art Museum Purita Ledesma decided to cancel her donation and get back her paintings from the government but the government then refused to give it back Purita Ledesma had to sue the Government to retrieve all her Art Collection.

The same also happened with the Domingo Guevara’s collection of Philippine Furniture it was first placed in the Central Bank of the Philippines compound in East Avenue Quezon City it was called Museo ng Buhay Pilipino then it was transferred in the Nayong Pilipino in Paranaque after the Nayong Pilipino closed down because the Government needed its land to expand the Ninoy Aquino International Airport the Guevarra collection lost again the space to display the collection
It’s a good thing it found new home to display all the collection in the De la Salle Museum in Dasmarinas Cavite.
