Widest Reach

We had a big laugh yesterday at lunch when a rich distant cousin of mine related that her sisters and their families, along with other La Vista residents, had gone to the beautiful Batanes islands way up north last week for R & R…

A group of lively children had approached and offered to sing to them, for a few pesos of course.  Thinking that the kiddies would sing a charming Ivatan ditty, they agreed.

The children sang:

“Si Villar ang tunay na mahirap,

Si Villar ang tunay na may malasakit,

Si Villar ang may kakayanan na gumawa ng sariling pangalan…”

“NALOKAH SILA!!!”  my cousin laughed.

They were horrified.  That Villar campaign jingle in faraway Batanes!!!

After all, many of them were diehard Noynoy Aquino.

Except for Erap’s sister M*rita Ejercito, who was also with them.

Harharhar…   😛   😛   😛

Another group of cousins were in Puerto Princesa in Palawan last week.  As tourists, they were taken around the various natural splendors of the place…

A group of children approached them with sticks and stones as makeshift musical instruments to accompany their singing…

The children sang:

“Si Villar ang tunay na mahirap,

Si Villar ang tunay na may malasakit,

Si Villar ang may kakayanan na gumawa ng sariling pangalan…”

“NALOKAH KAMI!!!”  screeched my cousin.

They were horrified.  That Villar campaign jingle in faraway Palawan!!!

After all, they were diehard G1BO Teodoro.

Harharhar…   😛   😛   😛

I wonder who was the genius who gave the idea of having the mother of Villar appear on national TV. I don’t doubt the sincerity of his mom, but…….

I am still for Atty. Gilbert “Guibó” Teodoro, Jnr. even if some Lakas politicians are supporting Senator Villar. It doesn’t matter with me if Atty. Teodoro is with Lakas-Kampi-CMD. What’s important is that he is not only not tainted with corruption but he is also competent and brilliant.

The Inquirer’s front page today headlines “Noy to Manny: Don’t exploit Baby James.”

Moreover, in an interview with ABS-CBN about the incident, Kris Aquino-Yap said, “Spare my son from Politics. Let him live a life of a 2-year old.”

Look who’s calling the kettle black. Senator Aquino, YOU and your sister were the ones who dragged your nephew to appear in that awful commercial in which you performed a rap number. YOU and your sister were the ones who dragged your nephew in the dead of the night to appear on-stage in a political rally.

And now you dare say that Senator Villar is the one exploiting your nephew?!!

Senator Aquino, your skewed reasoning shows that you are, indeed, in the words of your commercial, “walang bahid walang duda” — that is, walang bahid ng katalinuhan at walang duda ang kamangmangan!!!

Kailangan ng bayan ang isang Pangulo na may kakayahan at malawak na karanasan.

The Presidency is NOT an “On-the-Job-Training” position!!!

Noy is now up by 13 points! yay! Its probably because they keep replaying the VP debates and Loren stumbling all over her bridal train of lies. It’s like watching video bloopers being replayed over and over again. She’s really the silliest. I think Miriam wouldve been a more reliable running mate than Loren.

Is Batanes really Abad country? Are either the incumbent governor or congressman an Abad? I think not. Whatever is said about Villar, he has the best funded, most organized and most number of campaign diehards. This election, like the previous ones, say so much–volumes!–about our pool of leaders.

I am vacationing in Batanes week after Holy Week—will check this out for myself! 😀

True, Batanes is Abad country. They should be knowing about this sacrilege!

I have to agree with Alicia and Marco. Once upon a time, as a young idealistic man I liked Loren. Now she is consumed with absolute bitterness, which I’m very sure she isn’t even conscious about. She has not an ounce of emotional truth in her, all her pronouncements are for show, to achieve certain effects about her personality.

I am not Ilonggo but through context clues I sort of understood Mar’s question posed in Ilonggo during the VP debate! And I also knew that Loren did not address the question directly. She should join Jamby who does not know the price of galunggong. It’s ok not to know but what’s worse is their LYING.

Although I’m still undecided as to whom to vote for for VP, I’d rather have Loren rather than someone whose wife got kicked out of Maryknoll for plagiarism.

marco, from your middle name, I gather you’re related to Mar Roxas

  14. marco philippe araneta said,

    March 23, 2010 at 12:18 am

So happy to hear that Senator Roxas totally killed Loren Legarda with kindness, courtesy and honesty in the Vice Presidential debates. Loren reminded me of a bacterium in the presence of Antibiotics. She’s so angry and toxic that she just imploded causing her to have the dead lowest approval from everyone. Assumption should finally burn her diploma and records. Poor girl with uneven ears, she’s like an angry ranting ghost whom everyone in the country has finally decided to shut their collective third eye to.

  15. March 21, 2010 at 7:38 pm

Alicia, ” will cling to various elements ” ! How astute of you to say that ! Hahahaha, she turned on her own mother, of course she till turn on Villar !

  16. Alicia Perez said,

    March 19, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Mar Roxas shouldn’t have to bribe Loren Legarda to withdraw from the vice-presidential race. He is going to win the post anyway, hands down. However, that can’t be said of his running mate Noynoy Aquino.

But if he did try to bribe her, I don’t blame him. She’s actually a nuisance candidate without any real political following. The popular perception about Loren Legarda, and most likely true, is that she has no integrity and will merely cling to various elements advantageous to her political career, like Manny Villar. They truly deserve each other. Just look at her political history, it’s disappointing to say the least. Many of her former classmates at the Assumption Convent have openly announced that they will not be voting for her.

Just wait for the day when she turns on Manny Villar. Again. It will come.

Lauren laguardia keeps telling anyone who’ll listen that Mar was trying to bribe her into dropping out of vp race. I think she is too accustomed to men talking to her just to offer money in exchange for something and thinks thats all men want to approach her for. Pathetic.

Villar’s ad had all the visuals that really hit the poverty spot, street children, poor school children, displaced children, the wandering, wistful, hopeful youth.

It had lyrics and a haunting tune that pushed our buttons, the dreamers, the idealists, the mothers, the fathers, the hardworking folks that reversed their fortunes, the heroes in us, all ever optimistic of lifting them out of their misery.

It wasnt even sung well. It had faces you’d likely have seen on the streets.

Take away whoever it endorsed, that ad was a labor of love…

On the “Balitang America” news tonight, one news clip showed seemingly educated Fil-Americans voiced their support for their candidates (Villar in one case). One said: hindi bale kung ano ang platforma niya, Villar pa rin ako. I don’t begrudge her her choice of Mr. Villar (or whomever) but to voice outright that he is her candidate regardless of his platform really dashes my hopes for an enlightened Philippines.

What if, just for argument’s sake, his was a ‘communist or a Cesar Chavez-like’ platform’? I imagine she and her ilk would still support him hook, line and sinker.

Was also surprised that Loida Nicolas-Lewis is an avowed Noynoy supporter. Sad to say, Filipinos deserve whom they get.

G1BO pa rin kahit na mahirapan siya manalo! Toto, I commend you… kahit you’re for G1BO, ok lang sa iyo to show this… ‘di tulad ng ibang blog diyan, nagba-ban kasi natitira ang kandidato nilang si Manny Villar. Kasi siguro totoong landgrabber at ayaw ipaalam sa mga readers niya… Chu-ra lang… LOL!

  28. Ipê Nazareno said,

More than the ad with that jingle, I think the ad which was even more effective was the Dolphy ad for Villar. All the celebrities in Noynoy’s “torch” ad could not beat Dolphy and how he delivered his spiel in that Villar ad.

The most recent SWS Survey released this morning (taken Feb. 24-28; which was taken later than the Pulse Asia survey released last week), shows a statistical tie with Aquino 36%, Villar 34%, Estrada 15%, Teodoro 6%. Margin of Error is 2.5%.

Unlike earlier surveys used by both Pulse Asia and SWS, this new SWS survey employed a new method which is NOT verbally asking face-to-face questions BUT to hand out ballots with the names of the candidates and asking them to shade the circles corresponding to the name of the candidate for President that they will vote for. These ballots were filled up in private (without the survey representative looking over the shoulder of the survey subject).

SWS still counted the “spoiled ballots” (improperly shaded; marked ballots, etc.) for both Aquino and Villar but if “spoiled ballots” were not counted, SWS says that Aquino’s lead over Villar would have shrunk to a mere 0.1% !!! This does not bode well for Noynoy.

Aquino led among Classes A (Upper Class), B (Upper Middle), C (Middle), and D (Lower Middle). While Villar led big time among Class E (the masa which is the bulk of our populace).

If this is the case, then it could be true that:
“Si Villar ang tunay na mahirap.
si Villar ang tunay na may malasakit.
    Si Villar ang may kakayahan
    At gumawa ng sariling pangalan.
    Si Manny Villar ang magtatapos
    ng ating kahirapan.”

One must understand that this is BATANES — the island province where the Abads are the undisputed political royalty. If Butch Abad (Noynoy Aquino’s campaign right-hand man) can let this happen in his very own back yard, I wouldn’t be surprised if Villar wins the election by a mile.
