New Math

We were all taught that 1 + 1 = 2;  that 2 + 2 = 4;  that 4 + 4 = 8, and so on.  That’s basic arithmetic, basic mathematics.  Well, for your information my friends, none of those equations hold true anymore!!!   It doesn’t matter if you did your postgrads [ or even undergrads ] at Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, Northwestern, Duke, UC Berkeley, Stanford, etc., You learned the wrong things!!!  According to the powers that be in our Philippine government, among them those involved in electoral processes,  1 + 1 = 10,000;  2 + 2 = 200,000;  10,000 – 1 = 110,000;  1,000,000 – 20,000 = 8,000,000; and so on…!!!

The Pampanga governorship of Among Ed Panlilio is in legal peril because of a recount ordered by the court at the behest of the unimaginably rich and unimaginably powerful Pinedas of Lubao, with the obvious assent of their reluctant townmate, Madame President, and the cooperation of the entire Malacanang palace machinery.  THE political debts, as always.

For the first time, the helpless doctors and the nurses in the provincial hospitals of Pampanga had 70 % isopropyl alcohol, cotton balls, syringes, intravenous fluids, basic medical equipment, etc..  They say that it was never that way during the incumbencies of Lapid and even Guiao.  Among Ed certainly made good his campaign promises.

Many of us Kapampangans are going to order a T – shirt which says:  “KAPAMPANGAN KU, MARINE KU!”  [ “I am Kapampangan and I am Ashamed!” ].

Should it happen, We will not be surprised to see a rise in the number of renegades, rebels, and lawless elements in the province as well as the entire Central Luzon.  As with Marcos, so with Arroyo.

“Kung kalokwan mu rin, mangandaloko ta na ngan.”  [ “Kung lokohan din lang, e di maglokohan na lang tayong lahat.” / “If it is going to be foolishness [ in this case, cheating ], then we will have foolishness all throughout.”

THE MURDER case against Marybeth Lopez de Leon ended up in a settlement, according to state prosecutor Mario Mangrobang, after the family of victim Belma Abella filed an affidavit of desistance

Mangrobang then stated that a huge payoff was given to the family to drop the charges against de Leon.

Question, in the Philippines does the family have to file criminal charges or doesn’t the state do that on behalf of all the citizens? Incorrigible naivete, I have to admit, but people shouldn’t be allowed to buy their way out of a murder.

Kiko has his own mind. He risked the ire of his powerful fraternity when he refused to go with the pack decision. He is not, as the fishwife said, “kakalat-kalat lang sa UP”. Excuse me? He was the president of the UP Student Council, no small feat considering the complicated politics involved with getting elected as such because, unlike in most campuses, it’s no popularity contest.

Give him a break. He has his own mind, and he succeeded in politics despite not being born on third base.

Gilbert is the biological son of Ditas Teodoro although he is very close to his uncle ECJ.

He’s fluent in Ilocano because his legislative district is within the Ilocano speaking side of Tarlac bordering the Ilocano-speaking side of Pangasinan.

As for Nikki, well I can say that she’s a real looker.

The rumor that persists is that powerful uncle is not supporting him because it was the wife who was the root of it all. Something to do with his running as congressman of Tarlac years ago and her running later on as congresswoman of the same district. The PR circle knows that Mr. Kabayad is indeed bayaran. I know of friends who would send him expensive wines as PR gifts only to be told that they should stop sending him “suka” (referring to the wines) cause he has lots of them na in his private bar. He would outrightly say that instead of spending for the expensive “suka,” they’d better send cash!

Ay naku, even if he holds the position of the 2nd most powerful person in the land and wears expensive clothes, there is no denying that he remains as uncouth as ever! He should just go back to being the late Ate Luds’ barker – “Ate Luds, may tanong dito!” We all know that he started as the “voice” in the late Inday Badiday’s showbiz talk shows of old.

Back to Ms. K’s forthcoming wedding. I cringe every time the Kapamilya network gives the public updates about it. As we always say in Filipino, kasi “last trip” or “muntik ng naiwanan ng biyaheng Bicol.” Ms. K. acts the part of a typical old maid who was able to fish a good catch just when she thought everything had ended for her. Come on… she is a forty something bride-to-be. Enough of the pa-cute updates! Masyadong showbiz…

Worse, she keeps saying that the wedding will be so beautiful — and this is according to her own point of view. How can a wedding with a reception at Araneta Coliseum be beautiful? She says that there will be a show while the reception is going on. Naku… signs of Holiday on Ice ito! Sabagay, if she overdid the pamanhikan with all that balagtasan happening at her parents’ house, can the reception be far behind? I wonder what Mr. Pa*engke’s family really thinks….

I actually was considering Mar for president in 2010. But after seeing his alleged proposal to Ms. K in Wowowee, I said, forget it. He too fell into the trap of political gimmicks. Thank God he redeemed himself last week and I regained my admiration for him. I mean just looking at Mar (without K of course), I could sense that he was not the type who would fall into this type of gimmickry. It’s beyond him naman siguro. But when you are ill-advised by someone who claims she is loved by the masa because she gives away chinelas or claims to fight for the rights of the poor, for sure magmumukha kang trapo later on. I mean K has been known to hit hard on hapless individuals and institutions in the past just so to endear herself to the masa. But we all know what goes behind closed doors after the punches have been given.

It was during K’s time on TV Patr*l when the famous “Honor roll” and “Horror roll” was staple TV fare. People who know their PR know that the honor roll list was based on those who paid her (and her partner, N*li de C*stro) regularly. But try not contributing to their pot, and you’ll surely find yourself in the “horror roll.” Batikos to the max ito. It is really no wonder why the surveys dipped after Mar announced his wedding plans.

    Kiko ‘walang-hiya’ – Korina
    September 02, 2009

Mar’s unprecedented feat was admired by all. She blew it the next day!

As for the chinelas that she has been giving away, from the very start, I could sense that it was really part of her ambitious plan to be the lady in Malacanang. As it is, baka lady in waiting na lang siya. Waiting and waiting and waiting. She should forget that she is no longer on radio. She will be (and maybe not be, as babblefish is hinting) Mrs. R*xas. This morning, I had the chance to listen to a local radio program on DZMM hosted by Korina’s friend, Ted Failon. And since the issue being discussed was about Mar’s decision to forego his bid for the presidency, of course Failon thought that the best person to get an insider reaction was from his fiancee. Or so Failon thought.

Just listening to her made me realize that really, she is not the stuff that future first ladies are made of. Sure, she may be carrying an Hermes Birkin bag as a show of “class,” or is dressed in designer dresses and all, but beneath all these, the real Ms. K still stands out. Walang K.

There she was spewing all there was to spew at those who tried to attack her fiancee. And what, as a listener was I thinking when I heard her talk and even cry? She was merely sour graping. Ang naunsiyaming ambisyon para tumira sa Malacanang! This early, Ms. K showed her true colors. That she was a firebrand of a wife to a senator who publicly said that he was doing the unprecendented move of foregoing ambition over love of country. The nerve of her for saying that she was doing this for his sake. She said that it was not in his nature to fight back even if there were those who were attacking him. So where does that put her? As his guard dog who is poised to attack everytime someone lashes at him?

She pounced on Conrado de Quiros statement that among all the presidentiables it was Noynoy who was the most reluctant of them all. And I agree with de Quiros because even after August 5 (Cory’s death), Noynoy never entertained the thought. But in a matter of days, people were clamoring for him to run. And upto this time, he has not really formally decided.

As for Ms. K she demanded an apology from the columnist all because she felt that he was insinuating at her fiancee as the one who was too eager to run as president in 2010. And that was based on her own perception.

Even worse was her statement that although she did not believe the loose talk going around that Kiko P. had been bad mouthing Mar, still, she continued to talk about the “issue;” even saying that he (Kiko) had allegedly been doing this since the time Mar announced his intention to run. To make matters worse, she indirectly reminded Kiko of his “utang na loob” to her for helping him get employment at ABS-CBN as a news anchor. And I thought Mar has been promoting a new kind of politics where we go beyond “utang na loob?” It’s almost like saying that, because she had helped Kiko in the past, he has no right to even say his piece on anything that would affect her fiancee’s plans for the presidency. Moreover, she did mention that she had received word that Kiko was hitting at Mar because he was supporting Manny V. All these insinuations of Ms. K were denied by both de Quiros and Kiko.

“Ang hilig humabol sa salita ni K” my driver remarked. That coming from an ordinary man on the street who probably does not even care about political analysis.

If this is the way she continues to be, I really believe that she is definitely not a plus factor for Mar even in 2016. A friend who watched Mar’s announcement on TV last night said that the senator repeated his statement that “wala silang iwanan ni Noynoy.” To that, my friend remarked, “Oo wag niyang iwanan si Noynoy at ang bayan, ang dapat niyang iwanan ay si K.”

I just hope she should learn when to zip her mouth. She is no longer radio commentator who can just say anything she wants in the guise of freedom of speech. She should realize that if indeed, her fiancee is poised to run in 2016, she too must make that quick transformation to become a dignified and gracious future first lady. She should learn a thing or two from her future mother-in-law who quietly sat at the sidelines as her son made his announcement. That to me, is true grace and dignity.

Asquerosa Kris Aquino. Elevating her status will have even more people parroting that disgusting trend she started (“in fairness lang”).

I’m going out on a limb and say that, eventually, it will be an NP vs. LP fight for the Presidency — Villar vs. Noynoy (that’s if he really decides to run). Who will win? At THIS point in time, because of grass roots organization, I believe Villar has the slight edge. BUT everything is fluid at this point.

Just saw this Ed Panlilio guy on TV. I mean…I’m being superficial here but with a dematological condition like that, does he really think he has a chance nationally? Why doesn’t he get treatment from the late MJ’s skin consultants–after all they turned El Jacko Wacko into a pale, white woman; or even from the esteamed Dr. Belo?

I mean the Pinoy electorate is still quite shallow, and with a very media-conscious youth, that vitiligo can be quite distracting–no matter how brilliant a speaker he might be.

To remove Ed Panlilio and put in his place Lilia Pineda is not just panloloko, it is kababuyan.

I am told that the real reason for such lack of basic services is because the whole provincial council from the vice governor and all town mayors except for Mayor Rodriguez of San Fernando are all against him, even denying approval of all budgets pertaining to his governorship of the province. A good friend of our is close to Among and she can vouch for the fact that he was (and still is) denied everything from laptop to cellphone, to gasoline for official business. In other words, nag matigas silang lahat just so he won’t be able to fulfill his campaign promises. Let’s not forget that a lot of those who helped campaign for him before have stopped their support too because he refused them special favors. That’s the way Pinoy politics is…

ASSASINATION may be our only SALVATION.

Two Kennedys, Indira Gandhi, Anwar Sadat, Julius Ceasar ?

    History MUST repeat itself.
