The Pampango Table

98 year-old Imang Beatriz Tiamson Rodriguez [ born 1910 ] related that my granduncle Don Fausto Gonzalez y Sioco [ + 1951 ], while working on the Rodriguez-Sioco-Gonzalez Genealogy in his youth in the 1920s, used to go to Barrio San Antonio in Bacolor to gather information from the Rodriguez-Nacpil relatives. Yes, there is definitely a blood relation between the Rodriguez of Barrio Santa Ines and the Rodriguez of Barrio San Antonio in Bacolor, Pampanga. Imang Beatriz Rodriguez says so. How exactly, no one remembers…

I think your aunt Felisa’s attendance during the “fiestas” at “Bale Sim” and the story that your great grandfather was from Bataan are strong clues about your Rodriguez-Nacpil Family origins.

The family of our patriarch Don Olegario Rodriguez [ + 1874 ] did come from Bataan. Balanga, if I remember right. However, both Don Olegario’s father and grandfather already served as “Capitan Natural” of Bacolor town, indicating that the Rodriguez Family had been residents of the town for some years. Another granduncle of mine, Don Bienvenido Gonzalez y Sioco [ + 1950; the 6th President of the University of the Philippines ] remembered that Don Olegario Rodriguez was related to the Banzon of Bataan. He was probably descended from them.

Good luck on your child’s school project.

    Cheers, Cousin!!!

    Dear Toto,

I am from San Antonio, Bacolor. My grandfather whose name was Mariano Rodriguez ( my namesake ) died on November 20, 1953, the day after I was born. His only son, Anselmo Dizon Rodriguez, was born on April 21, 1914 and died in 1967. My father’s sisters were: Eulogia, Fatima, Felisa and Marina. I remember my aunt Felisa telling me that she used to go to “Bale Sim” during “fiestas” and that their great grandfather was from Bataan. I do not know if their great grandfather was a relative of Olegario Rodriguez. All the sisters of Anselmo have died already and I have no one to ask about our ancestors. My child has a school project about our family tree. I hope we can trace our roots. Thanks.

    Hello to the P*lanca Family:

Carmelita P*lanca and Tina P*lanca, Butch, Joey and Bernard were so much of our family. The family outings to their Taft Avenue residence is something we always remember in our hearts. Their dad Macario who always goes to St. Anthony’s to pray — I see him in the chapel kneeling and praying everyday. Your family were very good family models.

Say hello to Lita and Tina from the children of St. Anthony’s.
